Inter Cultural Youth Exchange UK (ICYE UK) was set up in 1993 to promote inter-cultural understanding, peace and international cooperation. We believe that local community action can have a global reach and positively affect the world we live in. ICYE UK uses international voluntary placements to promotes intercultural exchange and understanding as well as investing in young people, helping them to develop skills. We are members of the ICYE International Federation and work together with our international partner organisations. We believe in the importance of reciprocal exchange and also host approximately 50 international volunteers in the UK every year.
We are looking for a motivated, passionate and target driven individual with experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers. The coordinator will be required to engage and motivate young people to take up life changing long term volunteering projects and support on intercultural training.
The post holder will primarily support the on-going re-establishment of our Sending Programme, and subsequently recruit volunteers, coordinate their placement on international projects and support them through their experience. They will also support as needed, on wider organisational activity, including office admin functions, our Hosting Programme, and engaging with stakeholders.
The role is part time for 15 hours per week, ideally over 3 days. The post holder will have the option of working from home although will be occassionally required to work from the office in London. The role can include national travel to attend recruitment fairs, talks or other events
The position is for a period of 6 months with the possibility of extension depending on funding.

Treasurer Job Description
Inter Cultural Youth Exchange UK (ICYE UK) was set up in 1993 to promote inter-cultural understanding, peace and cooperation. We believe that local community action can have a global reach and positively affect the world we live in. ICYE UK is part of a federation of over 30 countries that promotes intercultural exchange and understanding between young people through voluntary placements overseas, including social and environmental projects in a range of countries in South America, Africa and Asia. We believe in the importance of reciprocal exchange and host roughly 50 international volunteers in the UK every year.
We are now seeking to appoint a motivated Treasurer to join our enthusiastic and diverse Board of Trustees. As a Trustee, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic/financial direction and governance of ICYE UK and will work with a dynamic team who support over XX volunteers every year.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for someone who can:
- Provide support to staff and board in relation to financial matters, including budgeting, tracking actuals, forecasting, and analysis of financial trends.
- Ensure the financial sustainability of the organisation is considered as part of all decision making
- Report on the finances to membership at the end of the year.
The ideal Treasurer will:
- Be able to support in acting out the above in collaboration with others on the board.
- Have knowledge and experience of governance and management, either within an international volunteering charity, or in another role that is applicable to the post would be advantageous.
- Have an understanding of charity and/or company finances, but you do not need to be a trained Accountant.
- Be committed and driven by ICYE UK’s values and vision, and committed to understanding the importance of cultural exchange in education and personal development.

A few more details
As a member of the ICYE-UK Board of Trustees, you will be expected to attend 6 board meetings per year that you can either attend in person or via Skype. There will also be 2 Staff/Trustee away days and an AGM each year, which you will be required to attend in person but these events are organised to suit Trustee’s availability.
Successful candidates will be co-opted onto the board for the remainder of the year until the next AGM in November 2020, where you can choose to stand to be elected onto the board.
